چکیده

All African policeman aged twenty-two years came to hospital with the history that he had suffered a blow on his left forearm two months previously. There was a diffuse smooth swelling of mixed consistency over the distal quarter of his radius; the skin over it was red but not adherent, and movement of the wrist joint was partly impaired in all directions. Radiological examination showed a typical osteoclastoma of the lower end of the radius (Fig. 1) and this was confirmed by a microscopical examination after operation.

Reconstruction of Elbow by Free Fibular Graft in a Case of Osteoclastoma of Proximal Ulna: A Rare Case Report

Giant cell tumour is a benign aggressive bone tumour. Most commonly, it is seen in epiphysiometaphyseal region around knee and distal radius. Proximal ulna is a rare location for giant cell tumour. According to reports, only 4 such cases have been reported in English literature. We report one such case of giant cell tumour of proximal ulna. Patient presented with painless, progressive swelling ...

MICROSURGICAL TREATMENT OF LONG BONE DEFECTS USING FREE VASCULARIZED FIBULAR TRANSFER

Management of long bone defects occurring in accidents or war injuries is a difficult problem, From 1978 to 1986, 11 patients were treated for long bone defects of the humerus ( 10 cases) and radius (one case), using free vascularized fibular transfer by microsurgical technique .The patients were followed for 4 months and in all of them, selective angiography and scanning revealed exellent...

Free vascularised fibular transplant for replacement of the lower radius.

An operation is described in which a microvascular technique was used to transfer a living fibula, with its vascular pedicle intact, to replace the lower end of the radius after massive resection for giant-cell tumour. Angiography carried out six weeks later showed that the grafted bone was viable. Six months after operation the transplanted fibula showed no osteoporosis or bone resorption and ...

Distal radius reconstruction with vascularized proximal fibular autograft after en-bloc resection of recurrent giant cell tumor

BACKGROUND Giant cell tumors (GCTs) located in the distal radius are likely to recur, and the treatment of such recurrent tumors is very difficult. Here, we report our clinical experience in distal radius reconstruction with vascularized proximal fibular autografts after en-bloc excision of the entire distal radius in 17 patients with recurrent GCT (RGCT) of the distal radius. METHODS All 17 ...

Osteosarcoma of the distal radius treated by en bloc resection and reconstruction with a fibular shaft preserving the radiocarpal joint: A case report

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor. The distal radius is a relatively common skeletal site for primary bone tumors, but not for osteosarcoma. It is difficult to treat Osteosarcoma of the distal radius; however, skeletal reconstruction and functional restoration following en bloc resection may be a promising technique. This report presents a 17-year-old male with osteos...
